Stunning

Quoth some douchebag, in the midst of an argument in which said douchebag actually argues that women are "immature" for preferring gynecological care from a female. Let's not even go into the absolute ridiculousness of any man telling women absolutely anything about their gynecological choices. Check this shit out, bolding of sheer insanity mine:

"What really gets me is the idea of 'male privilege.' Prior to industrialization, most men were farmers, fishermen, and at best shop-workers. I do not see how privilege fits into that in any way. THOSE MEN HAD NO POWER . . . I am not saying that large numbers of women were not oppressed in the private sphere, but that those forms of oppression were, in some way, equivalent to those of men. No one had power. And frankly, thank God (?) that MEN created the bicycle, vacuum cleaner, washing machine, and so on that reduced the economic value of "women's work", allowing women to pursue other activities . . . What I am saying contradicts a standard feminist narrative -- that men were also oppressed, if less oppressed than women; that men worked very hard and risked their lives to provide for their wives and families; and that it was men's hard work and science that provided the economic conditions for women's liberation. . . What gets me is that I AM a feminist! First-wave feminism -- no question (LOL!). Second-wave (right to work, culturally equal treatment) -- sure. Third-wave (respecting distinctively feminine characteristics) -- I couldn't imagine a world without women, without their charms, without their caring and emotional approach to things (forgive the stereotype)."

WOW.

Ladies, I think we should take a moment to thank this fellow, and all men really, for creating the vacuum cleaner. Because without a vacuum cleaner, how would we have ever had the time to hobble together a liberation movement? I mean there would have been WAY too much cleaning to get done for us to pencil it in. And like, you know, even though sometimes it seems like men hate you, really they're feminists! Why, they couldn't imagine living without your "charms!" Sisters, let's go ahead and give some credit where it's due.

I really like the part about "what gets me is this idea of male privelege". Men didn't have privelege! What are you talking about you silly feminists!

Ugh.

Don't forget the indentured servitude. He doesn't seem to be able to imagine a world without the uncompensated services of women, either.
He seems a bit uncomfortable with the possibility that women can imagine it.

Anonymous: jeez, shut up! >:( Where did you read we hate men? & ACTUALLY, FEMINISTS, have been saying for AGES now that patriarchy is bad for men too -for all of SOCIETY in fact. Where do these guys get off?

Where do these guys get off?

I'm guessing in their own hands. >:)

But back to the douchehound you were discussing -- I wonder if anybody's ever mentioned to him that, um, women invented agriculture? And furthermore, who the fuck cares who invented what? Just because I didn't invent the goddamn vacuum cleaner, I should just keep my mouth shut and not complain when dudes are violent toward me or pay me less for equal work? How does his ranting even relate to male privilege not existing? (If anything, it proves it because it shows that men are the ones who've had access to the education and tools necessary to invent things, or that when women invent things men are given credit for them, or we assume great historical figures are men, as in ancient Egypt where they've uncovered tombs of female pharaohs who were previously assumed to be men.) Yes, many men have been oppressed throughout history, but not because they're men. The men he talks about were oppressed because of their class, not their gender. Just like a white person in the United States can be oppressed because of their class, or because they're disabled, or a number of other things but not because of their race.

Actually, he sounds like he wishes he could be part of an oppressed group and is angry that the evil, evil feminists won't let him be oppressed, too! Where do people get these ideas that it's just so fun or romantic to be oppressed? It's like that documentary Byron Hurt did about rap, where some white kids from New York were talking about how they like rap because the ghetto just sounds so romantic and cool or some such shit. (And if it really were so goddamn much fun to be oppressed, why do these boneheads think we're fighting our oppression, hmmm?)

Ask the homeless guy on the street about his privilege.

There's no doubt in my mind that the "women" who write this blog are fat and ugly. After all, it's quite common knowledge that feminism is just a concept to allow ugly women advancement in the workforce.

Who's voting for Heart and her "man tax"?

I know I am!!!! Fuckin' men. Always raping and shit. They should be taxed just for being male, those fuckers.

I had a boyfriend who treated me like shit once. So, I have decided to become a RADICAL FEMINIST!!! I have joined the sisterhood and now I feel safe. We all know ALL females are sane, logical, kind and peaceful. All women. All of them.

Men all they do is rape and shit. All men.

Give a man a chance to rape without repercussions, and he'll do it, every time. I know because I had a boyfriend once who was an asshole.

But now I have chosen to be a lesbian because all women are trustworthy.

Oh, to live on an all female planet! Bliss!

but women who wear make up are weak and stupid. Have a nice day, I love your blog! I love all women!

You aren't paid less for "equal" work. If you were, the free market would quickly enable the employers who did hire you to crush their competitors. The work you're doing isn't "equal."

As for the usual stories about violence and rape-- well duh, maybe some of you are incapable of having normal relationships with men. Hating men in general makes you vulnerable to abuse. (Yes, the problem really is you.)

This is my first visit to the grinnell blogging site -- and I really enjoy what you have written... feminism seems to have gone underground (?? It may be I keep living in countries that dont offer much of a forum for it) somehow these days, or no one is interested unless they can start screaming about those boringly predictable stereotypes of hairy legged ugly women who just want to "male bash" .... how great to read the words of someone who sees the injustices women still face and still wants to combat them, with anger, humour, common sense and ultimately by going out and modelling to others what to do. Good stuff!

Like James Baldwin said in the early 1960s: we don't have a "Negro problem," we have a white problem.

We don't have a women's problem, we have an asshole problem.

These privileged assholes aren't in America (insert the name of your country here), they're in some medieval patriarchy. Imho we're *not* obligated to invite them into our country.

Yeah, right, Susan B. Anthony used a vacuum cleaner in the 1840s!

I knew men were dumb about feminism, but this just made me laugh at how stupid they really can be!

Mary Wollstonecraft is looking for her washing machine, and she can't find it because the light bulb wasn't even invented when this feminist wrote her famous words!

It's why we invented separatistm folks, so we don't ever have to talk to these idiots and work on our revolution without the enemy derailing us.

Wow.

I was directed to several of these blogs by a friend and am genuinely shocked by what Ive read.

A lot of my scorn has been reserved for misogynists and homophobes, but obviously I need to add 'overzealous, bigoted feminazis' to my list of people who make the world a shitty place.

Apparently, some people will hate me because I was born with a penis. This also apparently makes me an inherent rapist, a dumbass and allows me to be thrown in with all other men, for example:

'Fuckin' men. Always raping and shit. They should be taxed just for being male, those fuckers.'

'I knew men were dumb about feminism, but this made me laugh at how stupid they can really be!'

'Funny. I can totally imagine a world without men. And its a very cool one.' [Way to celebrate diversity and respect for the opposite sex, something I would assume feminists felt strongly about].

So all men, on the entire fucking planet, have the exact same viewpoints, moral values and flaws.

What narrow minds some people have.

God forbid people just follow the EXTREMELY simple code of Equality For Everyone, whether female, male, black, lesbian, talking dog or goddamn martian.

You aren't feminists. You ARE Nazi's.

My sister, or mother or female best friend would come to the exact same conclusion. Obviously one female friend already has, seeing as she sent me here to marvel at your amazing hate mongering.

Grow the fuck up. Or stick to your misandry and help encourage more people to become resentful and antiprogressive.

Ps. Stop using 'rape' so loosely. Its disrespectful to, you know, ACTUAL rape victims, male and female.

What a great post.

Society as a whole really does show how much they hate women whenever they argue against feminism.

They show their stupidity and privillege constantly. They can't even grasp basic concepts."Feminazi" is just proof of that.

I am surprise with the high ignorance of the person who posted this blog....tell me the conditions women had to produce science and technologies in the past,so that´s not surprising that only men produced/created the "wonders" you mentioned. And so,the utility of women is to be charm and all those steryotype of sexist feminility? The opression man faced/face is equivalent to the bizzar violences we are submited? And doing the house work is "naturally" women´s responsability? creating eletronics to "hel us" was better then sharing the responsabilities with us? god,you are so stupid that i don´t know whay you call yourself a feminist, once feminists fight for the women´s human´s right not for stupid "privilegies" given by men to make our prisons more glamourous
